IDEEA Recorder Specification

Microprocessor
|
|
32-bit Advanced Microprocessor, operating at 32MHz or higher. This powerful
microprocessor enables real time data acquisition, intelligent data processing,
and data compression. It also provides capability for future development.

Memory
|
|
Both RAM and flash memories are provided for fast data access and permanent data
recording and storage until user-controlled erasure. Data is retained when the
power is out and battery is exhausted.

Storage capacity
|
|
When IDEEA Recorder is used for normal storage of PA, EE data, it stores 8
data points per row and 32 rows per second for approximately 7 days: A minimum
of 8 data points x 32 rows x 3600 seconds x 48hrs = 44,236,800 data points can
be stored. On average, it stores 200MB of data.

Communication with PC
|
|
Through an available PC Serial Port (RS-232, high-speed mode) or a USB Port. A
user can select any one of ports via the provided software. Interfacing cable
between IDEEA Recorder and the serial port or USB is provided.

|
Sensors
|
|
Five sets of sensors, each set being able to measure angles of body segments and
movement (acceleration) in 2 orthogonal directions. Presently 8 independent
channels are used.

|
Event recording switches
|
|
A set of 4 miniature switches is built into the IDEEA Recorder. These switches
can be used to record events (such as start/stop of a workload, meal/bed time,
or medication/intervetion time) in synchronize with other measurements. Software needs to be developed for
individualized tasks by different users.

|
|
Power and Battery
|
Power consumption during normal recording operation is approximately 0.045 watt.
One standard size AA alkaline battery is used, which is easy to obtain and
reduces cost. The battery normally lasts 60 hours or longer.
It should be safe to conduct a continuous test that lasts less than 60 hours.
A battery extension unit is provided for studies that continuously run for up to 7 days.
