Do I need to be on-line, connected to your web page to

or for loading and analyzing data from IDEEA Recorder?

No.
The IDEEA software package is a
complete and independent system, which can collect data, store files, analyze
postures, body motion, and behavior patterns, and play back activities of any
selected period. It can also visualize results in the form of strip charts, pie
chart, histogram etc. using the ActViewTM program that is included
with the package. The presentation is dynamic and the results are instant,
depending on the episode of interest you want to view. A user can view these
results from different perspective and when found valuable, print them out on
printer with high quality.

What are the differences between the purchased MiniSun report and the analyses performed using the ActViewTM
software included? |

Answer:

The main difference is the experience that MiniSun team possesses in reviewing
the data and filing the report. In addition, the
database setup by the company in the past can provide reference and resource
for differential diagnosis of a disease or for comparison of results. However,
if a research scientist or a medical professional has knowledge and experience
in the physical activity and energy expenditure measurement, he or she can certainly have a
deeper understanding and analysis of the results, and is able to produce
excellent results or reports using the ActViewTM software. He/she
can also use other software familiar to him/her for further analysis by
importing the results from a text file exported by IDEEA software package.

Am I able to do the same analyses with the
provided ActViewTM software as the purchased reports? |

Answer:

Yes.
The software that a user has is similar to what we use
at MiniSun. Since, however, we have a better understanding of the program and
data processing, a sizeable physical activity database and energy expenditure
database, and since Dr. Sun and other researchers at MiniSun have first-hand
experience in clinical researches in this area in the past, we believe our
knowledge can benefit users significantly. We also believe letting trained and
experienced personnel at MiniSun to process data and file reports is a
cost/effective alternative. A major difference between MiniSun and other
companies selling physical activity monitor is that in addition to providing
most sophisticated device that is far superior than any existing ones, we have
more than 10 years of clinical experience and had conducted multiple physical
activity and energy expenditure studies, including large-scale, government
supported research projects.

Is it possible to collect data using different time sampling intervals? That is, do I have the possibility to collect data at,
for example, 1 sec interval? |

Answer:

Yes, with conditions.
The machine is capable of recording raw data at
different sampling rate, ranging from 1 data set per minute to 128 data set per
second or faster, with capabilities of recording 100 MB of data or more. In
other words, IDEEA Recorder is an excellent portable physiological data log or
personal data log with multi-featured software support. If necessary, we can
customize your need to change data sample rate. However, this function is optional. Since most functions of IDEEA
will become less reliable if the user changes sample rate. If requested,
MiniSun can provide custom designed device for data logger, which can hold
multiple channels of data for many days if required (more than 100 megabytes
data available).

Is it possible to record other data using IDEEA® as the data log? |

Answer:

Yes, after moderate modification of the existing device and programs.
The existing programs are designed for clinical
researchers and scientists in physical activity and energy expenditure studies.
It can be customized for R&D purpose, or to facilitate research in other
areas, such as EMG, EKG, or other biological signals. In this case, the custom-designed
engineering work is needed to modify software and hardware, which is
significantly more cost-effective for larger quantities (usually 5 or more).
Please provide more specific requirements so that we can design the functions
for you.

Is it possible to use an individually measured energy expenditure values when calculating energy expenditure?

Yes.
You can insert your actually measured RMR, energy expenditure during sleeping,
sitting, and standing to replace the predicted values for higher accuracy and
for specific patient groups.
