Osteoporosis
|
Osteoporosis is a
major public health threat for Americans. In the U.S. today, 10 million
individuals already have osteoporosis and 18 million more have low bone mass,
placing them at increased risk for this disease. Lack of motion and weight
stress on the long bones, along with a hormonally controlled tendency towards
bone resorption play very important roles for osteoporosis in elderly women and
other subgroups.

|
It has been
established that regular weight-bearing activities such as walking or running
plays a significant role in the prevention and treatment. As a portable device
for motion analysis and physical activity assessment, IDEEA will enhance
training or treatment with accurate and quantitative data.
|
|
The software tools
and database developed also plays an important role in evaluation and progress
assessment. Simply reminding a person to stand up and walk around and then
giving them feedback on their daily and instant performance could make a
significant difference in the rate at which bone is lost.

|
IDEEA is what researchers have been waiting for decades! It is the most
powerful and accurate device ever of its kind. The data analysis and
result presentation is astounding.
|
|
|
The birth of IDEEA creates a new era for studies in physical activity,
behavior and fitness. Truly remarkable!
