Dr. Sun is an accomplished research scientist who has been studying human physical activity
and energy metabolism for many years. He is an expert in developing intelligent medical
devices for the quantification and analysis of physical activity and related energy expenditure.
Dr. Sun holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and a MS
in Biomedical Engineering. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering
from Vanderbilt University in 1990 after he finished
his M.D. course work from Shanghai No.2 Medical University, China. He had
been a Research Associate Professor at Vanderbilt and conducted a number of
major research projects sponsored by National Institute of Health before
starting MiniSun.
Dr. Sun had been the director of several research
and development groups over the last 7 years. These include: Director of
Energy Balance Lab, Clinic Nutrition Research Unit; and Director of Metabolic
Core, Clinical Research Center, Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Sun has had more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in a number of journals. His years of research
and development of intelligent medical devices culminated in his development of
IDEEA.
